Public Assistance - Child Support

Benefit: To secure income for children from absent parents

Target Population: Children who are not living with one or both parents

Income Limits: There is no income test for this service; persons of any income may receive this service.  Parent Locator services have a one-time fee of $6.00 payable in cash, check, or money order. Fatherhood Program services are free.

Citizenship: The services below are available to any resident of Atlantic County regardless of resident or citizenship status

Services:

Parent Locator Services: Child Support workers will attempt to locate absent parents so new or past support orders can be initiated. Child support is cash and medical assistance that helps support children.

Useful (but not required) Documents:

  • Documents related to marriage or divorce
  • Current or past employment records
  • Birth dates, social security numbers
  • Copies of any prior support orders

Fatherhood Program: The program is designed to assist non- custodial fathers who are having difficulty paying support orders because of underemployment or unemployment. Services include assisting fathers gain skills, education, and training so they can obtain employment and meet their support obligations for their children.

Applications are in-person only. No online or telephone applications are available. Apply between 8:30 – 4:30.
