The Cape May County Board of Social Services administers a wide variety of federal and state programs which provide financial assistance and services to eligible county residents. Some of the programs include Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) which can provide cash assistance and medical coverage to eligible families, while General Assistance (GA) can provide cash and medical assistance to eligible individuals age 18 and over without children, who, at the time, have minimum or no income. Work First New Jersey (WFNJ) Case Management links TANF and Post-TANJ clients with jobs and work related activities. Individuals applying for General Assistance, when appropriate, are referred to the Cape May County One Stop Career Center to comply with work activity related eligibility requirements. The agency’s programs can provide support services to assist participants in meeting their employment goals.
