Youth TrainingThe following list of cost free programs are funded under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). These programs provide comprehensive educational and employment preparation services to eligible low income youth ages fourteen (14) to twenty-one (21). The WIA programs have income and other eligibility requirements. The in-school youth programs are primarily school based and offered to youth enrolled in the grant funded school district. However, the out-out-school youth programs are typically operated by non-profit organizations and post secondary education institutions and open to any youth that meet the eligibility requirements. Are you an public, non-profit or for-profit agencies, organizations or corporate bodies experienced in servicing the needs of young adults in Atlantic and Cape May Counties? The program is designed to prepare disabled students at the special services school, age 14-21, for a successful transition from school to work. The community college partners with Atlantic County Institute of Technology to train youth enrolled at the high school for careers in the sales and service industry through the Institute for Service Excellence. Youth, when eligible will have the opportunity to take the National Retail Federation (NRF) certification exam, earn a National Work Readiness Credential or a NRF credential for Professional Customer Service or Professional Sales. All youth will attain a secondary school diploma and participate in basic skills remediation, work readiness activities and job shadowing and work experiences. The program is designed to assist Buena Regional School District students, age 14-18, to obtain a high school diploma and prepare entry into the workforce. The Eagle Academy program is designed to assist at risk youth, age 14-18, attending the Egg Harbor Township Schools in making a successful transition to independence. Students will receive basic skills remediation, life skills training, tutoring, adult mentoring, family counseling, work experience opportunities, job specific training, and workplace readiness training. This program plans to target youth with disabilities and/or economically disadvantaged students enrolled at the high school. Participants will participate in basic skills remediation, work readiness, study and occupational skills training. All youth will participate in job shadowing and work experiences with local business partner to transfer classroom instruction to the world of work. The program is designed to recruit and prepare young adults, age 18-21 in Atlantic and Cape May counties, for employment in the service industry leading to professional credentials and employment. Participants receive occupational skills training, professional development workshops, review for certification exams, and workplace readiness skills. This program targets out-of-school youth throughout Atlantic County. The service goal is to provide vocational and occupational skills training to increase employment opportunities and retention of a job. Youth will be provided youth with counseling regarding childcare, transportation, housing and domestic, health and legal issues. This program will assess youth needs in Atlantic and Cape May counties, refer them to a service in the One Stop, such as job training, the Workforce Learning Link, or youth employment and training programs and begin the intake process. Additionally, this vendor will conduct job fairs for youth and hold community information sessions to get the word out to parents, educators, youth and other key communicators about the services available at the One Stops for adults and youth. The program is designed to assist eligible out of school youth, age 16-21, residing in Cape May County in acquiring workforce credentials, obtaining long term employment, and increasing earnings. PRN will target 30 at-risk, out-of-school youth residing in Atlantic or Cape May counties with an interest in becoming Certified Nursing Assistants. All youth will be required to complete a 140 hour CNA training course in conjunction with work readiness, job shadowing and basic skills activities. Participants will be required to exceed the competency skills required for state certification. |
